Abstract
The purpose of this experiment is observing the ultra structures of the Echinorhynchus gadi (Zoega in Muller, 1776), and for obtain the histological characteristics of Echinorhynchus gadi (Zoega in Muller, 1776) which can be applied to detail classification of Acanthocephala species.
The results are summarized as follows:
1. The sizes of the parasite which measured aid to light microscope are:*Length of whole body: 23-25mm
*Width of whole body: 0.85-1.2mm
*Size of proboscis: 0. 57 X 0. 2mm
*Length of uterine bell: 0. 1-0. 2mm
*Length of uterus: 0.52-1.3mm
*Size of testis: 1. 25 x 0. 6mm
2. The hooks on proboscis arranged regularly and its size are 0.05-0.07mm which measured in scanning electron microscope.
The morphology and size of hooks on the proboscis are variable in shape of base and angle of prominence belong to its position.
3. The surface of the trunk is smooth and homogenous without villi, pore and spine.
4. The longitudinal muscle fibers and acanthella observed in uterine bell, and floating ovary
observed among the acanthella which is characteristic findings of Echinorhynchus gadi (Zoega in Muller, 1776).
5. Above mentioned microscopical characteristics will be contribute to exact classification of Acanthocephala species.
